We built SlurpSlop because we were fed up with Google's AI Overview after every single Google search. As a result, we've discovered that we've become too attached to it; We lost the skill of finding reliable sources for our questions.

We presented SlurpSlop at the University of Vermont's CS Fair 2025, and we received a very positive reception from both visitors and judges. That's when we realized the great benefit SlurpSlop could provide to the general public.

We didn't stop there. We developed a special version of SlurpSlop made for K-12 institutions who provide Chromebooks to its students. The educational verison of SlurpSlop always blocks the Google AI Overview as well as network requests, and cannot be turned off on the Chromebook. However, we enable teachers and administrators to grant specific temporary permissions to be granted to students through a join code.
